hey i got a ruby throated hummingbird today. Oh my gosh they're so small I never seen one in my life before and wow. It was awesome!!! I hope they come back. What a great video! I just love hummingbirds. We have a family of 3 Annas at our home and they've become part of the family. Mama hummer is nesting right now so the family is growing. I have never seen them share the feeder so this was pretty amazing. Nectar is a fine source of nutrition - 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water and boil for 3 minutes. They need it to survive because when the flower source is down they depend on it. Thanks again for a great video.

I dont think so. If you have what it takes, the monkey or ape or what ever you have is fine as a pet. It is just like the zoo or a sanctuary having them!!!! Why don't you do a little research on monkeys helping the disabled and how the can make fine animals to have.

I actually own 2 adult squirrel monkeys (1.5-4yrs) & mother-in-law 3 adult capuchins (12+ yrs). None show signs of displacement. ALL are happy and well cared for as PETS. They love interacting w each other and humans. Yes there are bad owners as there are w ALL animals. Primates do require extra work, but for those who care for them properly both monkey & owner ARE happy & healthy. It breaks my heart to see any abused animal, but responsible owners do care wonderfully for their exotics.

Why is it that everyone who disagrees with keeping pet monkeys or chimps as pets, makes every owner of one seem like a horable person, or like the primate is having an aweful life? Pet monkeys are not that bad of a pet, infact they train pet monkeys to help the disabled. Chimps are hard to care for, but if you have the monkey and time, it can be a WONDERFUL life for both the chimp and the owner. I have know many people who had monkeys, and all were happy. I am getting one myself.

I decided it was wrong for me to keep reptiles because everyone who saw my reptiles wanted a pet reptile, making my pets advertisements for irresponsible owners. I own six capuchins, 6 spider monkeys, two pattas, a spot nosed guenon, two vervets, a lion tailed macaque, two rhesus macaques, a snow macaque,three ring tailed lemurs, and two brown lemurs. worst case scenario as probable,nay,inevitable outcome. if a person has the ability and desire to keep a monkey or any animal responsibly and kindly, s/he should not be forbidden by law (as it is where I live) or guilt tripped by those who want to impose their own agenda. Many who try to keep monkeys are unfit, but what of those who aren't? some of us would love to share our lives with such charming and complex beings, but are denied this experience by misguided or dishonest so-called activists.

Ruby-throated hummingbirds competing for a seat on the feeder. This is in Louisiana shortly before the migration to Mexico when the hummingbird population is the highest.
The ones with the dark throats (ruby throats when the light hits them just right) are males and the ones with light throats are females.
