I really like their old stuff, this is too dark ( even for them) I know what everyone is saying as well, any music made after 1999 is horrid. Noone has any original thoughts anymore. Just look at Hollywood and all the movies the are " remaking" and "SAW 6" just SIGH

i am not considering them to be similar in terms of music styles, rather i consider them to be similar in that they have gone stale compared to their older stuff. Portishead WERE cool, now i think they will be superseeded by other bands more taken into the genre and in my view more hungry for success.

im a huge metallica fan and they have just released death magnetic which is the best thing they released this decade and probably last decande as well, also, slipknot are complete shit, they ahve nor eal quality to their music, dont consider metallic and sliknot to be similar please. portishead are cool

I believe you have mistaken what i stated. Bands like slipknot and metallica have released stuff in this decade that are nowhere near as good as the earlier repertoire. (Looking back at the statement i didn't make it terribly clear i apologise for that.) The gorillaz second album was abhorrent in every aspect and to be quite frank this decade has shown very little in anything that is both new AND worth listening to. Further proof at the lack of originality, try the new garage scene *shudders*

As you know, I totally disagree with you on Portishead... there new CD is a shinning beacon of hope... and it seems that you have missed the new music of Gorillaz, Alizee Jacotey and Nancy Ajram. its is not the 90's anymore,whoever said that has got it damn right, and boy do i regret it nowadays. Music in general has been shit this decade and those who have been releasing stuff since the 90's have droped downhill form their standards. Bands/artists such as the chemical brothers, the prodigy and faithless for 3. Metallica and slipknot make up some form the rock scene and dont ask about eminem. Portishead join the list of artists who have hit well below their standard with their latest hit
