A production of my photography stitched together into a video. I was stationed on the island during all of 1981 and it was just about the best time I had in the Navy.
It took a loooong time to scan and clean up the 105 negatives, slides and self-developed black and white 35mm images used in the video, but I hope it will be the best Adak-related video on YouTube!

I was Stationed at NSGA from May 77 - May 78 assigned to the Coast Guard Radsta which we operated out of the P70 Receiver Site. My 1st roomate was a Naval RM at Tech Control. Not much had changed with your pictures, but I believe the "White Alice" antennas had been removed by 1981. I hope to one day revisit the Island. Thank you - Ken Berg Rm3 USCG

p59ot I was an Aerographers Mate stationed at the Weather Office from March 1979-March 1980. Adak is proving to be one of the most profound years of my life.Every day seemed like a month,it still does.Who would have thought this 30 years ago.

Awesome! I grew up on Adak -- 1968 - 1981, went from Kindergarten through high school graduation! Dad {Bill Sims} was an electrician w/Public Works. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. There really is no other place like it!

My husband & I lived on Adak for 3.5 years in the 80's, he was MAUW I was in the Post Office NAS. I now it's not the same now but I would still move back to live my life out to it's end. Man I love this place.

My wife/I was on Adak 79-80. We worked at Zeto point. In fact, I recognize some of the people in your pics. My best friend/room-mate was Jerry Massey. We lived in 123 Lower B Dorm. I met Valerie Myers while there, she lived right next door. We got married right after we left Adak - 27 years later we are still married. Gerrit -- Adak was such an amazing place to be a kid, and it is hard to describe it to people who have never lived there. Surprisingly, there was so much to see and do and we had so much freedom...we were definitely spoiled. There was no McDonald's when we were there, however. Maybe that was a good thing! The funny thing is, we moved to Adak after 4 years on Guam! Talk about a culture shock!

I remember those water tanks well. It must have been a frontier experience up there in the early 70's, it retained that flavor while I was there in 1981. I certainly would never had helped clean a 233 lb. halibut or prepare and Artic Blue Fox pelt had I not gone there! Fully agree with your screen name! Gerrit

I lived on Adak 1974-1975 as a Navy brat -- my father is a retired CTRC. We loved living there, and I enjoyed the video. We lived in Kuluk housing which can be seen at 1:21. Our house was up against that mountain that had the water tanks.
