You know I grew up in the 90's listening to punk rock and alternative like Nirvana, and I always assumed the Beatles were lame, because the only songs I ever heard were the typical radio-friendly songs that oldies stations play to death, ad nauseum. So, I thought I didn't like the beatles. Then, I started listening to their lesser known stuff, and solo stuff. And this song rocks! The Strawberry Fields Forever acoustic demo is 10X better than the album version. The producers then just overdid it.

I always thought that Judy Collins wrote this and that Joni Mitchell later covered it. But I had it wrong. Mitchell wrote it and Collins sung it first. I have always preferred Collins version, probably because I heard it first on the radio when I was a kid. Yes, her voice tends to tremble a bit in the song, but I love her passion. Mitchell's seems a bit bored to me as she sings it. Anyway, it's a wonderful song.
