Oh for Pete's sake a protest zone was also set up at the DNC in Boston 4 years ago. The only difference is and the reason it wasn't the stuff videos are made of is because those protesters didn't act like animals taking over city streets and attacking reporters. No sympathy from me, that wasn't a "peaceful assembly" they were a borderline mob and the police were obligated to keep them under control. Protesters had no problems playing by the rules in Boston in 2004.

It's one of those whole "knowing" about it things. I have seen it happen in live blitz games, especially quick time formats. All depends on the experience of the player. I am of the opinion that it's good to cover the basics, simply because what's basic to someone is totally new to another person. In any event...people who play the King's Gambit knows better than to capture the e5 pawn. For one thing...you have doubled pawns on the e-file. Also...by playing the king's gambit you weaken the diagonal leading to the king. the capture of the pawn in this context...so early in the game is ill advised.

One would think so but I have seen people play the gambit and fall for this line in my personal blitz games. It depends on who is playing it I guess - either someone who really knows it in depth or someone just trying it for fun. Therefore I wouldn't count on that trap.. after 1. e4 e5 2. f4 Bc5, I personally try to play at some point (and I think it is widely accepted to do) c3 to support the d4 move. I think falkbeers countergambit is by far more dangerous (or at least annoying) for white if played right.

There are plenty of edible plants and fungi all around forests so catching animals for meat is not an essential for survival IMHO. However its always good to know how to, should the situation demand it. Also I like the level of detail given, something Ray mears never gives on his TV programs because if you want detail you have to shell out money on his books!
