This number has been covered inumerable times, but Dusty's original is still the inarguably definitive version. The only other one that even comes close (very different treatment but same joyous feel) is the 1981 one by the Tourists. It WAS a fun time in history to be alive! I'm so glad I grew up in the 60's because the music was the best ever. There was so much variety, and something for everybody. Early to mid-60's had the British Invasion (Beatles; Dusty, etc.),the all American sound (The Beach Boys; 4 Seasons); classic Motown (Supremes; 4 Tops; Temptations). Later in the decade pop turned more to rock and hard rock,(Joplin; Hendrix)and motown to soul music (Wilson Pickett). I think it was the best music decade ever!
