No, no, it is TABLA. The two drums played with fingers. There are three musicians here: Ravi Shankar - sitar, Alla Rakha - tabla and some guy with black glasses, who plays tambura. By the way darbuka is an Arabian drum as I know... :-)

This is one of the more contemplative, slower tempo ragas. Sublime. This would be excellent for listening just before going to sleep. Wish Rag Bhimpalasi was available on You Tube. I have it on CD, and Pandit Ravi Shankar introduces it as "one the most beautiful ragas of the late afternoon." Indeed it is - has extensive deep bass tones for the first six minutes or so. Namaste.

I agree that almost every "spritual master" I've ever heard of has been a fraud. Sai Baba, Prabupada, whoever. I consider Ravi Shanker here to be a little dense, spitting out outdated philosophy, and having an annoying sounding voice. But I don't see how he compares to the rest. His programs are pretty genuine, from what I can tell (although I disagree with him on many points). Is there any particular reason you think him a fraud? (btw, this is the first vid I've seen of his)

The full program taught by Sri Sri includes asanas, traditional pranayamas, mudras, mantra meditation. All theses are common practices in yogic traditions and he's not trying to say they are unique to him. But Sudarshan Kriya is unique to him. Very good, powerful practice. Mann du hast keine Ahnung, was Sitar ist! Guitar is much smaller version of Sitar. Seems to be ur poor knowledge. Sitar has traditionally 18 to 21 strings. In exceptional case it can have more.....

Hi yea, the sitarist obviously is ravi shankar :P, but the other man on tabla (percussion) is Alla Rakha. The other man on the sarod (plucked string instrument), if i am not mistaken, is Ali Akbar Khan, son of Ravi Shankar's Guru...
