Thats the most amazing landing i've ever seen. Kai-tak was one of the most dangerouse approaches in the world, and crosswind makes it almost impossible. Pilot must have been really nervouse during the approach.

If those who say it's not a 777 could look at the tail end of the aircraft, the end of the fuselage is squared-off rather than conical. And the HUGE engines used by 777's would also be a reference point. Especially the GE90's that are on some 777's.

I have NEVER heard of a Boeing 777 involved in any mishaps. Have you? Do you know anything about the 777's safety record, so far? I have never heard of any 777 grounded for safety issues. MD80's, 737's, older Boeing jets, yes. Not the 777 yet.

I was born in Hong Kong and used to watch the planes taking off and landing at Kai Tak as my hobby. I miss that airport. I found it amazing that the airport was so close to the city ten years ago. But now the new Chep Lap Kok International Airport is 30 minutes away from the city by Train. It has been voted the world's best airport since yesr 2000.

As requested. A shorter version of the approach into Kai Tak without the music. Again, the lead in lights are barely visible through the rain as the video starts and then we get a great view of the checkerboard through to touchdown. This approach is in the rain. The other video is a little clearer but still grey out.

it was called a igs approach you would flow the glide slope and localizer as normal then make a visual turn to line up with the runway. the big checkerboard was for helping the pilots know when to make the visual turn
