Dude, if you don't know what you're talking about then don't speak. Ledger wasn't a drug addict, he passed away because he was taking two different types of prescribed drugs to help him sleep because he had been having problems sleeping. The mixture of the two drugs however killed him. It wasn't anything like cocaine or meth or any other real hardcore drug you make it out to be.

The Joker has nothing to do with drugs. He's a mass murderer but in no way is a drug addict. And Chris Nolan who is one of the most respected directors in Hollywood thought Ledger was an amazing actor (which is why he cast him as The Joker) as did many critics including Ebert and Roeper, and actors like Sean Penn and DDL and Cate Blanchett. Because this was a genre movie there are always going to people like you who'll refuse to take his performance seriously. The roles you metioned were completely different and more mainstream than the Joker. However, I've never seen an actor more subsumed by his character than Leger was by his Joker. Remember it was this complete commitment to the role that caused Leger to have the psychological problems and disrupted sleep that led to him taking the sleeping pills that killed him.

I think it could be in the running for the best performance, you cant really put vito corleone next to the joker because of the difference of character, i think heath had proved that he can give the best performance as the joker, i couldnt see al pacino or marlon brando do any better so its not really debatable, the fact of the matter is that heath ledger has played the joker 10 000 times better than anybody before him

I'm saying I'm perfectly content not knowing exactly how the universe was created, and that I won't delude myself into believing that a supernatural "creator" made everything. There is nothing that supports it, so I don't believe in it. However, there could possibly be some kind of "god" or universal force that we don't know about. Well, they certainly had different styles, but Heath was more into character. Jack's Joker had been done before and is the main way that Joker is viewed for the broad audience. I personally though Heath's Joker was the true form that I had always expected out of the villain. And I'm glad he brought the elements to the table and more :)
