The piece itself is so well known to all flute players and really isn't particularly difficult, though impressive enough. Heck, I can play it half-decently on my mid C19th 8-key flute (quite unauthentic, I know!) and I have next to no classical training.

What a hoot - brilliant party piece! I don't get the commenters who are objecting to it on technical grounds or because it isn't "serious" and are offended by it!!!!!! These guys could obviously do the serious side - this is just a fun encore...... Why not? They sure pull it off. 'Twould be better on a proper flute, of course ;-) (i.e. a period one & with a period orchestra). I don't think the co-ordination is that hard for musicians of that calibre - just needs a little practice.

i agree this guy is awesome and has done some fantastic work. he is a pioneer in his art, he has my full support, grace and blessings... however there are things that work and things that don't in my opinion, peter is best left in it's origional form. but don't stop, this is pioneering stuff, and i love it!

My only critic is is it doesn't have that airy sound that the panflute has. It is definitely just an opinion, but I like that imperfect sound... kinda the way temper tuning does.
