Wow, he could be my phantom any day... Sexy, but not vulgar. Seductive without being obvious. Agressive and gentle at the same time. I absolute love this scene, I believe it arouses our most intimate and primative senses in such a deep, yet discrete, manner. Gerard is most certainly not the best singer, but the part suited him perfectly! His voice has a fiery edge to it, it's inexplicable exactly what this element is, but the result is phenomenal. Emmy Rossum's young "innocence" is key!

Nice analysis of it but consider this the Phantom is and never will be able to marry her because their life,home and job is at the theatre (how boring) and the fact that Meg Giry wants him does indeed probably count for nothing. Raouel is however the man above the surface the one with wealth, looks and a surface life which she would indeed want. Someone to have kids with and their childhood romance does influence her decision. (I watched this too many time)
