I dont think it is possible for science to produce grass through this method. It would be like sticking bits of matter together to create an animal. It needs to be living first and to develop from a parent/host. Through genetic engineering we can create new species of plant. We can genetically engineer new complex systems. Genetics over time would lead to new cells, plants, organisms developing. So the naturalistic universe is able to produce new complexity. Even if we can't.

Science has replicated the process by which elementary particles formed amino-acids (one of the stages of cell development). There are infact many compounds science can produce. Stars produce and release most of the universe's elements. Hydorgen/helium are very simple elements and developed shortly after the big-bang. If we had sufficient energy, science could replicate these processes. They are fairly straight forward scientifically.

I Quote > "The important thing to remember is that evolutionary theory is a scientific theory about how life has developed ? this means that it begins with the premise that life already exists. It makes no claims as to how that life got here. It could have developed naturally through abiogenesis. It could have been started by a divine power. It could have been started by aliens. Whatever the explanation, evolutionary explanations begin to apply once life appears and begins to reproduce."

TY Stalwart, u beat me to it. This is one seriously confused fella.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 11:18:02
the scientists cannot produce even a single blade of grass by biochemistry, yet still they claim that life is produced from matter. You, a living entity, can mix hydrogen and oxygen to create water. But matter itself has no creative energy. If you place a bottle of hydrogen near a bottle of oxygen, will they automatically combine without your help?

Can you not even begin to see how hypocritical you're being? And now, to boot, you're attacking my intellect, which is generally a precursor to defeat. I'm sorry if you find it uncomfortable to be confronted with logic, reason, intelligence, evidence, proof and common sense, but that is your problem and not mine.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 09:41:10
Therfore because you cannot see the brain behind the material universe and the sringent laws we are all under, you foolishly conclude that nature is working automatically. Just like the child who thinks the motor car is running automatically.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 09:36:22
What you seem to be saying is "since I, govindadasa, cannot explain how the universe came to be, I will choose to believe in a legend about a god who made it all". This is not a wise thing to believe. I don't know how the rockets on a NASA spaceship work, should I therefore believe that there are goblins in there burning pixies? Of course not, I know that SOMEONE knows how the rockets work, and that there's no magic involved.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 09:34:05
"where did evolution come from and the natural laws we see at work in the universe" Why do you feel so strongly that they must have come from somewhere? Why do you find it so hard to accept that nature organises itself? Look at a diamond, it's a marvel of order, and it happens entirely naturally as a result of the chemical properties of carbon, there's no guidance necessary, carbon does it all by itself. Besides, as already mentioned, the lack of a scientific answer does not mean god exists.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 09:25:52
"This proves nothing except to highlight my point that there must be intelligence there first before anything" You're not listening, are you. Your "point" proves nothing other than what your opinion is. It simply is not true that there must have been a designer. If that's hard for you to understand or accept, that's a fault with your credibility, not with the truth and reality of the situation.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 09:24:56
where did evolution come from and the natural laws we see at work in the universe.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 09:23:09
It requires nothing other than mutating DNA, selection pressure, and time Is this your proof positive that order can arise from disorder. This proves nothing except to highlight my point that there must be intelligence there first before anything arises, order or disorder.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 09:21:12
"To simply observe, and make hypothesis without experiment is childish waste of time" And yet again your comments positively drip with hypocrisy. It is creationists who simply assert things without evidence; "god exists and that's that". And as a matter of fact, proposing hypotheses is vital for the advancement of humanity. Imagine if no-one had ever dreamt of radio, flight, atoms etc. No, science can't prove the origins of life, but in no way whatsoever does that prove that god did it.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 09:14:27
It requires nothing other than mutating DNA, selection pressure, and time The fact of the matter is you are not able to prove your thoeries about the origins of life. To simply observe, and make hypothesis without experiment is childish waste of time.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 09:07:40
Order comes from disorder all the time. Put different types of rice into a bowl and mix them up. You have disorder. Now shake the seive over a bowl so that only those grains small enough to pass through the seive fall into the bowl. You now have order. Clearly, this is far far far simpler than creating a universe, but it does demonsrate that order can and does come from disorder all the time.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 09:01:01
"It is like this..." What you're overlooking is that conditions on life are suitable for us NOW. Millions of years ago and millions of years in the future, conditions will NOT be suitable for life. You're talking about the "goldilocks" viewpoint, and it's vacuous in the extreme.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 08:56:58
"You keep waitin around for a few million years...." Again, govindadasa, you fail to see the irony in what you're saying. It is YOU as a creationist who believes that everything "magically" came into existence! Evolution requires no magic, no supernatural guidance, no god. It requires nothing other than mutating DNA, selection pressure, and time.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 08:53:45
"The theory of abiogenesis has not been proven" You seem confused. You quote a comment about evolution, then talk about abiogenesis, which are two totally different things.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 08:47:14
It is like this. By machine the seasonal changes are going on, the sun is rising, the moon is rising, the water in the ocean, the waves are there. Everything, machine working. It is machine. Everything being systematically done. Such a big ocean, vast water, it is just on the brink, no more. It is so organized. The sun is rising exactly in time, astronomically. The astronomical watch is one ten-thousandth part of a second. It is so accurate.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 08:25:05
Unlike complex things like an eye or a wing, they didn't take millions of years of gradual progressive cumulative steps to reach their level of complexity You keep waitin around for a few million years for these comples life forms to magically evolve then you will realise it is all nonsense unproven speculation.
By: govindadasa. on 07 Oct 08, 08:22:21
"It is the result of a process called evoultion that has been proven scientifcally" The theory of abiogenesis has not been proven. Scientists claim to have created life but this is a bluff. If life is a display of chemical combinations only, as some scientists suggest, why can't science inject a life-giving chemical into a dead body and make a man live forever? If we give a scientist the chemical ingredients of the material body, why can't he combine the chemicals and bring them to life?
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 07:14:56
Something that never fails to amaze me is how creationists can say things like "machines didn't just appear magically" without seeing the irony. Creationism is EXACTLY what you're mocking! Creationism is the only place where "things appear magically", yet you fail to notice this. It is creationists who believe in magic and spontaneous creation, not atheists or supporters of evolution.
By: stalwartatheist. on 07 Oct 08, 07:13:07
"Yes but somebody deigned and built the machines. They didnt just appear magically" Machines clearly have a designer and a builder, but equally clearly they were built relatively rapidly. Unlike complex things like an eye or a wing, they didn't take millions of years of gradual progressive cumulative steps to reach their level of complexity. That's why there's no sensible way to compare the building of a machine to evolution.
By: utSlymJym. on 07 Oct 08, 04:17:29
But your analogy of evolution to a machine is flawed. Designer creates Machines. Evoultion creates Nature. Machines are a things, Evolution is a process. Nature does not appear magically. It is the result of a process called evoultion that has been proven scientifcally. If you cannot distinuish between processes and results, I cannot debate with you. You are arguing over symantics and not truth. Again. EVOLUTION IS NOT THE RESULT IT IS THE PROCESS BUNTY!
