Did English A level years ago and thought I'd buy the DVD of this to get reacquainted with some high culture. First time I saw it I thought it was boring as hell, 2nd time I saw it it became strangely compelling. Third time I thought "hang on, this is actually pretty good", fourth time I loved it. I understand why its such a classic now you can see its influence everywhere in modern drama.

I am deeply offended by this play. The shed is not stinking and a harmless defenceless buddha was killed. Also, noone kills the fucking caretaker. HES SHITE. And he never even goes to Sidcup. HE DOESNT EVEN CLEAN UP ONCE! HE LIES.
By: HelloMarcoPolo. on 21 May 08, 22:24:20
Thank you for the advise. Back on subject, this play is absolutely fuckface shit. Please destroy it.
By: AshleighAtTheDisco. on 21 May 08, 22:22:26
Wow. We really share the same views. I agree totally, and happen to know for a fact that gabriel oaks large forehead implies that he has a rather adequate penis. I find this both emotionally traumatic and offensive. If you see any copies of the evil book in question please burn it and dance on its ashes.
By: HelloMarcoPolo. on 21 May 08, 22:19:57
Ah, I am also doing this book. It is also shite. Bathsheba Everdene was born a whore and only married Oak when she had noone left. Oak's name is suggestive, too!! It implies he has a massive penis.
By: AshleighAtTheDisco. on 21 May 08, 22:11:14
I completely agree with you. Im also doing far from the madding crowd. I would love to know why Bathesheba Everdene is such a dirty whore?
By: HelloMarcoPolo. on 21 May 08, 22:09:02

The Aston monologue would be really useful as I'm playing the character soon and it would be good to see how it's been done by the pros. If anyone can post that to YouTube, wd be v grateful.

If anyone's interested I'm trying to upload the clip for Aston's monologue (which is almost too long for youtube, clocking in at a monstrous 10 minutes) and Mick's monologue towards the end of the third act. I have the DVD, I just need to find a way to get the clips from the DVD to my computer, and then to Youtube
