Did English A level years ago and thought I'd buy the DVD of this to get reacquainted with some high culture. First time I saw it I thought it was boring as hell, 2nd time I saw it it became strangely compelling. Third time I thought "hang on, this is actually pretty good", fourth time I loved it. Spot on. I never studied English to a higher level but it appears to me that there's a lot of over analysis of this material. I saw it in Manchester with Pete Postlethwaite a few years ago, a lot of people rubbing thier chins instead of laughing. It was still superb though.

I'm sitting my Advanced Higher English exam tomorrow and I'm just scanning around for any snippets of the Homecoming I can find for added understanding (and to test my knowledge). I have to say, we watched this film in class, and it's an excellent rendition of the brilliant play. Paul Rogers as Max couldn't be more perfect, and it gets the biting, hostile tone of the drama perfectly. Possibly my favourite play... I'm gonna have to think about that one.

Brilliant, cutting, and hilarious dialogue. Each thing the characters do to one another is dripping with hostility, menace, sarcasm, or contempt. It's a f--cking war between the characters. They're at each others throats, so filled with rage and frustration. And Pinter's dialogue is black comedy at its best.

No, he ruptured his vocal chords two years later during the "Pussy Cat" album sessions, not during the "Son of Schmilsson" which is what was recorded here..

Thanks for this, does part 4 exist on the tube? I think Harry's insecurities gradually made him party too much. When Lennon tried to record Pussy Cats with him, his voice was fried.
