hi, your local fish shop may give you some for free, as they consider them pests (mine did). I also breed ramshorn and pond snails in a small heated tank, with a small foam filter. Feed them well and within couple weeks you'll have hundreds!! Cheers

Depends what snail it is, how big? maybe they are leaving it as they are being fed up on blood worms, but I suspect the snails days are numbered, just a matter of time!

I feed them bloodworms.. lol i had to put more then the lady at my local fish store ( she said 1 tablet of bloodworms ( Frozen ) but i put them with guppies no agrresivness happening so.. i had to put 2tablets since they all ate them really ! fast.. and i had a snail which came with my life plant and like.. they arnt eating it.. any ideas?

those are really sweet puffers, i use a filtered bucket to breed my pond snails, never heard of the term snail jail (thats funny).ramshorns are harder shells he must love those, if you want to give him a challenge add calcium to there water i think and you can control how hard u want there shells to be.

OR you can do what I did, I have a snail Jail (small tank purely for breeding snails) and have a fresh supply of ramshorns whenever I want them. I have a South American Puffer too, and a snail a day is a must with them, as they have the fastest growing beak of all.

and he needs a snail feeding maybe once a month, everyone says something different but he dwarf puffers need the least teeth management of all the puffers. go to your LFS ask for a couple pond snails per puffer and drop them in (with young puffers squish the snail before you put it in. they use snails to file there teeth down or they grow to the point the fish can't feed (1 year). important aswell supervise the snail feeding all must die, snails lay 50-300 eggs a week if he gets away.

Blood worms are there staple diet. Hikari frozen are the best by far. Excellent quality small size and the smell will drive them nutz. Brine shrimp are a candy laxative to them only and have no nutritional content at all. thaw them in a little tank water in a shot glass and take a tooth pick scoop out a few just put them in the water and move your hand across the tank and they'll chase. don't over feed. feed until u see a lumpy llooking stomach then stop. there food beggars look out.

Hi, I find mine turn thier noses up at 'prawn' (no matter how small i cut it up), but they love bloodworm!!! live or frozen, that's what I feed the most. Adult brine shrimp now and then as a treat!!

HI there, Excert: - Although many puffers look cute and comical, most of them have a mean streak and will at least do some kind of damage to tank mates that are slow or that have long fins. The Amazon Puffer is the exception to this rule. It is a peaceful fish, almost to the point of being shy so they cannot be kept with aggressive tank mates. Even so it is a puffer and can nip fins, though usually just at feeding time.

Although people say that the South American CAN be put in with sime fish, I would suggest that your guppies would get terrorised and eventually caught. Not sure about the crab, to the puffer it's just a very very large natural meal, as they will eat REALLY small crabs. If I was housed with a 50lb steak, i'd work out a way ;-)
