Awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing more from you! Scooteroo definitely looks like he rules the house! :) Wild raccoons have always fascinated me - well, raccoons in general have always fascinated me! I love everything about them, their mannerisms, their movements, their curiosity - they're just such interesting creatures! As far as my raccoon videos, I've been interested in them for years, but it wasn't until last year that I found a place where I could actually watch them!

Fantistic! I do love watching wild 'coons. Scooteroo certainly keeps us on our toes, I am glad you enjoy watching him. He is a Blond raccoon, 5th generation captive bred. He is 9 months old, and boy does he rule the house. He LOVES swimming in our canal out back, and playing with our dog. I will post more soon! Liz

It did - it crackled and hissed a little for the rest of the night, but I've used it time and time again since then with absolutely no problems! That was one of those shots that you could either run out and grab the mic or just let them play with it... I chose the latter - :)

That's what I'm guessing, because the cam did move a bit, but the squirrels have seen that before and not freaked out... Maybe he saw a reflection of himself in the lens and thought there was another chipmunk checking him out? :)

Really?? Interesting! We have quite a bit of squirrels here too - that's about the extent of wildlife that comes through this yard, squirrels, chipmunks, birds and occasionally a rare creature or 2, but by "rare" I mean once a year... :( I would love to live somewhere that ISN'T a busy street, but this is my place for now...

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! Definitely determined! That's what the bag feeder's all about - to see how much they get into it, and he definitely wanted it! The strange thing I've noticed with skunks (in the short time I've been able to tape them) is they don't usually come the first night something is put out, but they're there during the 2nd night. I've noticed this twice, during 2 separate years. Maybe just a coincidence... :)

Thanks for saying so! Well, I had left over pieces of steak, a few small pieces of marshmallow (something that I wouldn't recommend for feeding *anything* regularly, because it's very sugary - I used 'mellows because I had only 4 days during this particular trip to see if anything would be interested in my feeder) and some pieces of bologna. The skunks are more interested in meat than anything else, but if I had the chance to stay at that spot longer, I would've chosen healthier foods... :)

That is a good idea to try though, I'll have to keep that in mind for the next time I go where I taped this... not for another 7 months or so, but still! :)

That's cool, I didn't think you were implying anything... I think he did check out a small piece of foam, but then got rid of it... I haven't had any problems with them eating it though... :) As far as being fun to tape it, hehe - that's not even the half of it! :) Not going to far into the back story (you can check out my website if you're interested in that), it took me 2 years to get this shot! The last time I taped a skunk, it similarly trashed the feeder, but the light never came on!

I believe skunks are in their own family (Mephitidae), but they are close cousins of ferrets, badgers, and otters, and are part of the carnivore order (which includes cats and dogs).

Inside of the bag is a piece of foam with food in it - steak remnants (from a meal a day ago) and pieces of bologna. It is foam, it's not really a "hidden" camera, but I am controlling it remotely (I'm there, but I'm not in the skunk's field of vision, so it doesn't get freaked that there's a camera there) and they don't eat the plastic. I wouldn't be doing it if they did... :)

They're vary radiant - I have a few other cardinal videos on YouTube (search for "taburineagle cardinal") too... So that would place you in... Illinois? Ohio? Virginia? I checked the Wikipedia list of state birds and there's quite a few that use the Cardinal (or some subspecies of it) :)

I get to hear the trucks and motorcycles that speed by the highway instead though... :( That noise is more often than not little coons chittering to their parents, so you might have families of raccoons and not even know it! I've been trying to get crows to come to the yard for the longest time too, a pair finally showed up last year - I've found that they like cheese of all things! Zach, VERY cool collection! You have a number of my favorite (domestic) animals; coons, crows, ravens, grackles. Shows what a ingenuity and a little bit of (modern) technology can provide. We are just in the process of attracting crows to our backyard. Have tons of stellar jays, redwinged blackbirds, squirrels, but missing the crows. They are slowly coming though, after a year of efforts.

If you look at most of my videos, you'll see that I love "vandalists" :) Especially raccoons - it's so cool to watch them use their "hands" to get food out of the feeder! That water dish shot was one of my more favorite shots from last year - the best one was a shot of a younger raccoon chasing a bug!

Heh interesting to know that Racoons like the same sweet stuff ,as we humans do! Again very nice footage, and overall work. I like the cricket chirping in the background which gives the whole thing the right ambiente, of like it´s a dark night where many racoons enjoy their junkfood and water games most. This winter looks like it's going to be particularly brutal - hopefully it's not all like this! Thanks! I've seen hawks here and there, but this is the first time I actually got to see it prey on something - it's kind of gross to some people, but it's interesting to see a predator do it's thing - and very cool to be able to record it! We don't get hawks in this area very often, maybe once or twice a year, this was a rare shot! :)

They are! Well, I haven't seen as many Mourning Doves this year as I have in the past, so maybe the hawk's been taking them on the fly... :) I know hawks eat pigeons, but I've never seen it happen. It is getting colder too - we don't have a lot of birds during the Winter, but the squirrels don't seem to mind going out in it.

Like you said in your video, hawks need to eat too. I worry about the animals sometimes. We barely have any squirrels. 2 rare birds I see is this 1 downey woodpecker and this one 1 shy red cardinal. That hawk was amazing, I hope he finds some food. Heck if he could nab one of those Morning Doves that would be good, well, it would control their exploding population. I know they eat the pigeons. The blue jays though, I love em, smart and beautiful

I haven't seen a lot of birds lately, but the squirrels have been bulking up like nobody's business! I think we have 9 or 10 of them in our yard now! I've heard hawks around our area before, and they do kind of sound like that - kind of like a high-pitched gull squawk, but more drawn out. I've seen crows divebomb hawks before too, but I've never seen a hawk in this natural of a setting before! Hopefully you get a chance to catch him on video next time he flies around your area!

I saw a hawk this morning. It looked sorta like that. I know of one Hawk in my area, but it's endangered. But man, this hawk was3 or 4 times the size of those large crows. It sounded like in between a Bluejay and a tiitmouse. He flew off before I could get a video of em. Lost of birdies today, they eat like crazy when it's cold, and today a big snow storm they all look for some food which is hard to find.

I know - it's intense - after seeing it I was a little worried about having my smaller dogs out in the yard! I actually got some good pictures of the Hawk on another day, I got out in the yard and he was on the fence... I recorded him too, then I got close and saw how large he was an got a bit freaked! He turned his head and screamed then flew away. It was crazy!

Thanks! I think we missed the catch by about 5-10 minutes, because when I first started recording (half-awake and shaky :)), the squirrel still had both arms, and that quickly changed. I can only imagine how intense it would be to see one get caught though!

But that mic's been battle-hardened - it's been through squirrel fights, gulls have stepped all over it, crows have pecked at it, raccoons sniffed it and played with it... not to mention that it's been out in the rain quite a few times! It's a very resilient mic! :) I'd say sometime this weekend would be a good time to check back... that's my next time off from work!

Hehe... *I* didn't make him go in there... :) I thought he was going to also, actually - he didn't fall in (which is good :)), but he didn't get any food out of it either (which isn't good... :)) The food left over from what the coons didn't eat (almonds and cheerios) were what the squirrels found so interesting... but I didn't even expect to see them as interested in trying to get something out of it like this! :)

I wish I had more animals here, sometiimes to catch the shots I do, I need to go beyond where I live - skunks in one place, raccoons in another place, and squirrels at home... but they're all cool!

Ok, still waiting, but like your other stuff.Sadly this year in my yard the birds layed their eggs too soon and we had a freeze and I found all the newborn birds laying frozen in my yard. No butterflies yet this year and I just saw one dead bubble bee on my elephant plant. Something has happened to the bees in this country. Toxic environment????

I also heard the sound of a dog barking about 10 minutes later (I think it was just the dog next door), but I doubt it was related... That *definitely* wasn't a fox barking - way too deep! :) I searched the yard for about 15 minutes about 30 minutes after it happened and I didn't find any signs of a struggle, so I'm really clueless on this one!! Very, very bizzare stuff - and our cat went ballistic when the other one started whining!

Tab-you're-in-eagle - just so that there's no confusion... :) I've just heard the most disturbing sound that I've ever heard - either 2 cats just fought outside or the fox caught a cat - not likely - it's a very nervous animal, as it should be - look at it in the video!, but it didn't stop me from freaking out for the last hour! I have the audio (the camera was running when it happened), but it doesn't prove anything - I also hear 2 cats yowling - either someone's in heat, or... pissed! :)

No, I live 8 miles north of the PA boarder, north of Scranton. I've been mapping out the best route, haven't got my new camcorder yet, and the guy on ebay (2.5 hrs south east of me, NYC) hasn't replied. I will report him (if I don't get it in the next week) and get a final value fee credit. The PA boarder I plan to shoot is Brackney PA in Susquahana County. The only thing stopping me is the steep mountains. Round trip is 24 miles via map, my e-bike gets 20 miles pending variables.

Oh, and my electric bike made it up my mountain in about 10 minutes , but drained half the battery. 600+ ft height, 1/5th mile distance. Hello!! You could make something like this too, but it doesn't really have to be in English - I understand a *little* German (hehe... mostly from listening to groups like Die Fantistischen Vier - I didn't take German in school... but I listen to them quite a bit... :)) I thought the crow part was cool too - but it's cool to see what everyone else thinks of that part - everyone sees it differently! Up-shots! Another multiangle clip! This time, I used one of my "up-shot" projects - I literally dug a foot-deep hole and stuck a camera in it to catch elevated shots of the squirrels and birds that decided to drop by... I should have done it earlier in the year when the squirrels were more active, but I did get *some* shots of them playing around!

Thanks for the friend invite! :) I'll send that video to you in a minute here - as for the "mbs", what that means is that YouTube has 2 limitations on videos - the filesize of the movie needs to be less than 100MBs, and the length must be less than 10 minutes long. When you have the Director account, it takes the length limitation away... you can have a really, really compressed 3 hour video on here if you'd like to... although I wouldn't do that... :) Hopefully that helps a little! :)

I have one on here that's 35 minutes! This video was from last year... hopefully the winter *this* year isn't that bad! I love the one from 2 years back - 1 snow day... that's it! :)
