Allah says to obey your parents in everything except if they ask you to defy your religion, thats when Allah does not hold you accountable. If your parents forbid you from wearing the scarf, try to convince them about your decision, and talk to them about the situation. Allah will not judge you if you wear it and your parents are mad, thats just something they must learn to accept! Talk to them, and pray so that Allah can make them see your point, inshallah if you do that they will be convinced!

I agree! I'm not Muslim, Jewish, or Christian, but I'm considering wearing a head covering. I'm wearing Islamic style clothing for my wedding this June, complete with Al-Amira Hijab and longer scarf. I think it's just beautiful.

Im jewish but i really love hijab. I just started a new job and i decided that i didnt want all the men staring at me and to know me for my abilities instead so now i wear it jewish style - tied at the back and with an underscarf but when i go outside i put on a longer scarf over the top - hijab style - i think it looks beautifull and i can be confident when i walk down the street.I think all women should wear hijab no matter what their religion.

well I m dressing modestly, not wearing the headscarf though. I ve actually been "interrogated" by Muslim Saudi friends the most who are forced to wear abaya in Saoudi, but once in Europe on holidays or work trip, they love dressing differently, with cleavage and everything. I always wear a colourful cute "undershirt" for cleavaged tuniques or dresses. You cant imagine how you re "squeezed" out exactly by them on why i choose to dress in this manner. else no one has bothered me for long sleeves!

Sigh, Actually I find more madness in peoples reaction to a womens desire to want to be modest. The most virulent reactions to the very notion that it might be a womans choice to cover instead of expose. I am serious, you get the strangest comments and inexplicable anger directed toward you if you decide to just wear long sleeves or long skirts. Never mind the head gear. Just try it for a few days and see. Freedom to choose and peace in that freedom. Nothing more and no less.

well, if the woman chooses to do it, so be it, its her choice. Its not mandatory in Islamic teachings but some women choose to do it out of their love for God. Anyhow if the woman can contribute to the society and do her best for the better of her people, then her face cover shouldn't be a problem for others to judge her.

Actually muslim men do have limits on their dress as well, as for women... the thing about Islam is that we always, always deal with reality we are a 'real' people... the reality is ... is that men may be attractive but the feminine shape, form aura is far more alluring, magnetic... that is why it has been used in advertising and art far more than the masculine figure... modesty just allows you to be seen as something more than that ... as a human being... not an advert

you mean having the nose & mouth covered? This is not compulsory in the Islamic dress code & women may choose to do it out of personal preference. That said, I too feel more comfortable when I can see their full facial expressions while communicating because body language plays a huge part :)

Personally, I feel uncomfortable when a person is talking to me with his/her face covered. Through the t.v, internet or in person, I mean if somebody is talking to me, it's only human , I think, that I should be able to identify them.
