man, i was at a jazz festival here in arizona the other day. it was dixieland just like this. the bandstand was all old men but they swung like mad. and it was in a retirement home. it was great but sad at the same time. i was like the only one of my age there. i love this music and it needs to come back. this is true american art.

I didn't see the film with Diana Ross. Anyhow, Ross wouldn't have been responsible for the script, and the movie was made to entertain and earn money. This is the real thing: a stunning video, it shows two sides of BH's singing (she did have a sense of humor) and she was tops.

Why have you got -6 thumbs down. I am a massive Louis Armstrong fan, I started playing trumpet at the age of 10 because i loved his music so much. I have read many books and watched many documentaries about him, and it is pretty well known he was a user of mary j. He would take laxatives and smoke a joint while on the toilet each morning. "Leave it all behind you" i think was his motto. From the sounds of it Louis smoked only a joint a day. Most of the best writers, poets, painters and musicians

I have a copy of this movie. It's titled "New Orleans" (duh!), and was released in 1947. It's not a particularly great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but well worth seeing just for the musical performances by Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong, among the other great musicians who made the film. Billie's singing just blows my mind every time I listen.
