The POINT of this is never wish anything like this on anyone innocent.. ever.. Its sad to see so many people just point fingers and come up with reasons why, or to label the 'Japanese' under a single banner. There were the colonial military powers as well as civilian who were forced into the war. Justifying this is like saying "kill all Americans because George Bush was a warmonger" I DID NOT vote for bush, and I would not like to be labeled as a warmonger just because I am American.

Sorry dude, but Japan left us with no choice. Allies gave them an ultimatum. They denied it, TWICE. The only way to get through to them was to show how ruthless and powerful we are. Hirohito was indecisive as hell. In fact, he had a plan for the army to mass murder all the Dutch,British and American POW then surrender. Even taken it further to his own civilians. Tragic yes but it saved more lives then it killed. War is war.

if you want to talk about cruel, maybe you should look into atrocities the japanese committed against the china and the philippines. i'm not saying it was awesome that a lot of innocent civilians died, but that was the best option at the time. besides, pearl harbor was a surprise attack on what the japanese thought was the most powerful part of the navy, they were trying to make it impossible for us to fight them in a war, not scare us into surrender
