actually, Thelonious Monk did study at Julliard, as did Wynton Marsallis, Miles Davis, and others. But he didn't technically attend Julliard so you are somewhat correct.

Acts 20:35: I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the Words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Read the Bible. It is God's Word. The end of time is near. Man cannot save himself. Only God can save, and the only true God is the God of the Bible. Familyradio(com) for more of the True Gospel.

you still need a dictionary. To say someone is underrated is a compliment, not a negative criticism.Congrats on getting thru high school; obviously the standards are getting lower. And if you want to stop people from fighting on youtube, calling them idiots is not the way to do it. You are part of the problem, not the solution.

simpy to correct someone who said he went to Juliard.
By: jamieeek3. on 16 Nov 08, 08:33:23
Do you know what "underrated" means? It means you are even better than what people think. It's a good thing.
By: jamieeek3. on 16 Nov 08, 08:30:58
Lol agreed
By: jimmyn321. on 16 Nov 08, 05:31:48

By: JamesTown0708. on 12 Nov 08, 13:02:21
This is truly wonderful music, that infuses a sense of happyness and a feeling of warmth into my too human heart. I have listened to many different kinds of music, though i must admit i have overlooked jazz until i got a little older. Now, discovering monk is like discovering this a whole decade of works. Thanks, and stop arguing! :D
By: dennisoneill4. on 08 Nov 08, 16:51:12
Anyone who knows anything about playing the piano and music composition knows that Monk was a genius and widely acknowledged as such even during his lifeteime. Watch the Clint Eastwood movie on his life. It is fascinating.
By: aperisimo. on 08 Nov 08, 06:29:15
erm.. why you tell me this things?
By: totalimmortal08. on 08 Nov 08, 01:23:14
I don't feel like it. Learn jazz first before you say he was an underrated jazz pianist, idiot.
By: minor7b5b9. on 07 Nov 08, 23:29:44
Although he had some formal training and eavesdropped on his sister's piano lessons, he was essentially self-taught. Monk attended Stuyvesant High School, but did not graduate. He briefly toured with an evangelist in his teens, playing the church organ, and in his late teens he began to find work playing jazz.
By: minor7b5b9. on 07 Nov 08, 23:27:30
underrated & genius are not mutually exclusive. Find yourself a dictionary.
By: minor7b5b9. on 07 Nov 08, 23:10:30
When you say someone was underrated, you are paying them a compliment. He was so well-recognized as a composer that his genius on the piano was overlooked.
By: minor7b5b9. on 07 Nov 08, 23:07:01
as a jazz pianist, not as a brilliant composer.
