while the aisle of shame is RIDICULOUS, I do know that a LOT of women order the size the bridal shop says they should (after supposedly carefully measuring)... then the dress comes in a couple months before the big day and boom, desperation because there's so much manufacturing variation in them (been there for my own AND others) and a person who is a size 8 in almost everything across the board can be a 10 or 12 in gowns--the industry has no standard of sizing. That's why I bought from the rack

You and the advertisers have either not watched Happy Go Lucky or have not understood it. The film is absolutely not about a woman looking for a man, it is a comment on the inability of our western society to accept someone who creates their own happiness and revels in it. This film is also well written, beautifully shot and creatively cast. Mike Leigh is one of the best directors working today and to belittle him in this way is ridiculous. The stereotypes in these commercials... I had no idea. Even the kids were stereotypical. Oh, and if it were me or my dad standing on the chair, the chair would break, not saying dad's fat, just saying chairs sometimes do that when you stand on them.
