actually, you are allowed to lift your pivot foot as long as long as you shoot or pass before it comes back down, that is the usual ruling in say high school. However, in the nba they say you have a 1-2 count with your steps after you pick up the ball they dont definitively define travelling more than that according to the nba director of officials Ronnie Nunn

thought abt that aswell ecco, the weird thing is that some referees do allow that kind of move even though the player let go of the pivit foot. I've heard that it's ok if you do a clear jump stop but they doesnt do that in this vid. I mean, why should that move be allowed when a slow going lay-up is travelling?

people here are real stupid...since when are u allowed to lift up your pivot foot...once you have planted and established your pivot foot, the only time you can lift it up is if you lift your opposite foot as well, in other words you must jump before you pass or shoot it...the way they are executing the drill is most certainly a travel...

an up and under move is very similar to what they're doing, but they lift their pivot foot (left foot) off the ground before they jump, so they do travel. In the NBA (which differs from college and high school), you can move your pivot foot BEFORE you start your dribble, if you're going to dribble or pass.

Alright guys, have you played officiated basketball? This is not a travel. Yes, it's very similar to a pure post up and under. You get to jump off the non pivot foot. As long as you are jumping it's not a change of pivot feet since the jumping foot is not truly stationary and therefore not a pivot foot. Get it? Changing or shuffling the pivot foot is a travel. This is neither of those.

A lot of you guys are making judgments on this kid, and ya don't shit about him. Other than Rose, Beasley, and maybe Mayo, you don't fucking know how any of the others who were drafted are going to play. DJ Augustin? He got eaten alive by Rose in the NCAA tournament, so how's he gonna be any better in the NBA? Is he gonna be able to guard any other point guards? I doubt it. next years draft has more pure pg (augustine is the only real one 5.8ast) than this one. I agree that the Clippers should draft him over the Danilo kid - if he is available at the seventh pick. If it was based on talent alone he should be the three or four pick but it is about how he fits in with the team so the Knicks dont need him bcos they have Crawford and he will be a waste on the bench - dont know who the Knicks should get, I think they should get an athletic Center or something. But the Clips can definately use him as a sub for Mobley who will go to the bench in a few years

If he pans out, I'll be thrilled. But, there's absolutely nothing to suggest that he will. He has no skill. He's not even good enough to start for his African JV league team. He's awkward, uncoordinated and skinny. He was drafted ONLY because he has great length. But, that does nothing for you if you can't make the roster. Moreover, the Sonics already had Swift and Petro to develop. This pick made no sense. Granted, it was a weak draft. But, they should have then traded out of it.

Who knows. What is he, 19? He can block shots like a pro and he runs the floor well. His offense is terrible, I don't see him ever scoring much in the league. If he can learn to play defense respectably and rebound some the sonics could use any big guy. Just tell him to set a screen and look for loose balls on offense if he can block shots consistently. He's probably the next Olumide Oyedeji.

he isnt at all like KG. Colleigate competition is better than international competition. This guy is a risk like Tskitishvili or Milicic. If a comparison is going to be made, it should be made to Diop, not Garnett. Hes a block guy who can pick up garbage and finish, not a superstar. Although he could potentially be very good as most international top 20 prospects could be.

If hes goes #16 like as thought, the bulls would have the steal of the draft. It would be foolish not to take this guy in the top 10. Hes had very little expierence but thats a positive since he so good as of now. I think hes much better than Tyrus Thomas and reminds me of Greg Oden/a young KG
