A guitarist who can easily play a tune he's got in his mind straight away, doesn't have to think of it and struggle to get. If you play the guitar u see all Richrd's solos are mainly easy blues patterns, the first things u learn to play. See the solo on 'starway to heaven', or 'Voodoo child' and the one in 'sympathy for the devil'. No good or bad, just different level of musicianship I think.

Neither are any of the guys you listed. A virtuoso is defined as someone who can play ALL styles of music flawlessly. A master musician. The closest one on that list to that is Jimmy Page, and even he doesn't play all styles of music, and he's sloppy at times.

Well, I wouldn't say good techniquely... he's good cause he's been the first to electrify that kind of r'n'b, but technique... dont forget he's almost the same age as clapton and hendrix, and close to page and beck. he's not even half of any of them (technically). he's great and inventive, but no virtuoso.

I can see why they changed the front part of their stage later on in the tour. This early conception was a disaster waiting to happen. I think they extended the cat walk leading out to the sides of the stadium too later in the tour. I like how at 2:20 Mick says "1 more" but then Keith points 2 fingers to indicate 2 more. I'm no musician but I didn't hear 2 more! I just realized that there's no sax in this version but still a great way to introduce the song. Ronnie's solo's are swesome.

They also started playing "Shattered" and had to stop because either Keith or Ron screwed up. So they started again. I was on the field and you could hear Keith yelling at the crew to "turn up his fucking amp". Even though it was truly the first commercial megashow/megatour of its type it still maintained the garage band sound/image despite being an almost 20 year old band at the time.

In Philly 1981 they Stones kind of "rehearsed" a little - I love the show for that reason - alternate versions of the songs certainly rough but I like it, also some significant mistakes during that concert (I think for example "Time is on my Side" start fucked up. They did that often in their first concerts in the 70ies/ begin of 80ies, compare for example 1972 first concert in Vancouver. It was all not as perfectly planned as today.

I lived in NJ at the time....skipped a day of high school to see it. My seats were originally in the nose bleeding section and then we moved onto the field at the right moment (I think when everyone started booing for Journey to get off stage). I was about 25 feet from the stage near the center (smack in the middle of a bunch from the Pagans Motorcycle Club). Greatest Stones show I have ever seen. Where else can you get a copy of this particular concert?

Il faut reconnaître que, quelle que soit sa qualité vocale de départ, il a quand même pas mal perdu depuis toutes ces années. Il n'est plus capable des même performances qu'il faisait plus jeune, au contraire de ses capacité d'instrumentiste qui ne semblent pas avoir décliné (d'ailleurs hormis des problèmes articulatoires il n'y aurait pas vraiment de raison).

J'ajoute que je ne suis pas obsedee par l'orthographe, n'ayant pas vecu dans un pays francophone depuis 12 ans je fais moi meme trop de fautes.
