Extremely short runway 747 takeoff

This was the first 747 passenger flight from Bournemouth Airport, UK, destination New York. Bournemouth has a short runway so this was an incredibly dramatic take off for the 747. Listen for a guy in the background saying "its not gunna make it!" and "Jesus christ!"

The pilot was sacked after this stunt. First of all it is not a 747 it is a Lockhead. Secondly the pilot was supposed to land at nearby London Airport but got confused and landed here at Bornemonth. I was on the plane. I know this for a fact. Also the copilot was a fagot and tried to have sex with the pilot when they were trying to take off. The result: both pilots sacked and the airline (New Ossian Air) was fined a record 23 million dollars for this stunt. I know this for true. fuck you nigers.

you are correct, and what people fail to know is that Bournemouth also has a start up strip which is, i would say ~1700ft. A 9,000 ft runway is ample for a 742 to take off and land for example. Of course Bournemouth isnt as long as Heathrow, but not a lot of the airports in the WORLD have longer runways. One of the longest in the uk

Oh, did I mention that the Runway in Barbados is a Sweet 11 500ft or 2 1/2 miles long. Excellent Views! As an Aviation Enthusiast, if you eve go to Barbados, you should take a trip round to The Barbados Light Aeroplane Club(ask someone who works at the Airport in Barbados for directions)

Passengers don't weigh that much, fuel and oversize cargo is a big factor. Please note that looking at the climb rate it was probably at fairly light loads.

What do you mean, reputation? AF said they would have operated to 2007, but after being grounded for nealy two years after the crash, it would be able to go on past that date. I'm not sure about BA's plans, but I guess it would have been simillar. But it is theoretically true they could ahve gone through 2009 and even further if the airlines would be willing to pay for a life extension programme.

Not really, people just didnt fly concorde to the same extent anymore. The crash cost BA and Air France a lot of money to fit out the aircraft with modifictions ect. They felt they wouldnt make thier money back and infact would make more money by sending all thier concorde regulars by first class. If people flew concorde like in the 90's, concorde would still be here today.

At about 1:00 he addes baking soda to the Mountain Due. Someone says in the vid that it fizzes because of an acid/base reaction. However I believe that is incorrect. The MD is made by having sugar dissolved in it then the MD liquid is saturated with CO2 gas so it will be carbonated. Baking soda will dissolve more readily in the MD than CO2 so the baking soda displaces the dissolved CO2 in the MD and it fizzes. This is the same with the Diet Coke and Mentos....
