Are you saying that you can arc weld aluminum ? I would like to know more about that.
By: Pierre8907. on 25 Apr 08, 00:32:30
Alpstarr, you can weld Alluminium with a zirconiated tungsten electrode and set your welder to AC, or AC/HF. Use a thoriated tungsten electrode and DC- to weld mild, carbon, stainless steels, and also copper. and yes its a lot harder to TIG weld takes years to perfect it.

most people find tig welding is harder than MIG or ARC. you can weld other materials with tig, however you have to change conditions, for instance with steel you have to grind the electrole to a point (to create a smaller arc) and run the power of DC and not AC which you use for ali

I was welding "DOWN HILL" on the side of a flange. It was a round flange for shipboard ventilation. The shop I was in at the time, that's all we did was cut, build and weld miles of aluminum vent. When we welded fillets, outside corners or butts, one of the guys I worked with called it "caulking". We didn't dip the filler metal, we continually feed. It looked like a caulked bead of weld.(Production) And NO, it did not and would not CRACK.

How much is a Tig Welder Machine like this on the Video?
By: higgrobot. on 09 Feb 08, 22:13:59
You guys have snorted too much shielding gas, it's not weldor it's weldera

Looks like the filler material is being added far too slow. Might look pretty when you take your time but the aluminum is made weak and brittle from the heat input. You have to add the filler fast and move fast to keep things cool. Just try putting it to the bend test after. crack!

A contaminated weld, especially when you're only stitch welding, on a something like that flange wont make any difference to the finished product. As far as functionality is concerned, and thats what's important with ventilation.

thats the correct terminology these days, weldor was like just put in the dictionary not to long ago, right?

HAhahaha thats what most tig welders do bro on little fidgity shits lol, thats why i couldnt be fucked with doing a TIG job about 18months back, cos you need an auto dark helmet and you have to be prepared to sit down and weld stainless pipes all day haha, fuck that.

Why did you continue welding after you contaminated your tungsten, we saw the smoke...ALL OF YOU PEOPLE NEED TO SHOW US THE FINISHED PRODUCT!!!!
By: accountabilabuddy1. on 05 Dec 07, 17:05:59
Right on! I might add that the guy is sitting because he might make 100's of these things a day. It isn't hard to get fatigued when welding, tired=sloppy. Good job-but welder should be changed to weldor!
