Maybe I'm wrong, but the highest note that he hits is actually a C# (6:07 is the first time) which is two lines above the treble clef. Is there a higher one? RZ, proper support, posture, and practice will help increase your range... I increased my upper range by 5 half-steps in college. I've only been up to an A#... Hope that helps!

the F in that song is what we first tenors love to reach. i agree with bjwaites, it is a mixture. it is part chest voice due to the breathing and part head voice. I've reached it a few times, not to the clarity of david phelps, but i've been up there. LOL

I hope this makes sense. Melody is the part of the song most familiar.(i.e. when a soloist sings) When a man and woman both sing the melody together (no harmony), usually they're an octave apart unless their ranges are similar etc. So, when the man sings a song with a woman, but he sounds lower than she, but they both are singing the same thing, you normally have an octave. Sometimes they do it in the same octave or more than an octave apart, but that is the best way I can explain it offhand.

One thing I loved about Andrea was his prayers - saw him live in the 80s in the UK - between song she didn't so much preach but prayed. i would not be suprised if I have DOUBLED the gaither sellings. I can't tell you how many times a day I get asked "where is this from so I can buy it?" or "I would never have known about them or these videos if it hadn't been for your postings!" he still does, but hes realized that he cant sing like this for much longer and still keep his voice. if he sung like this now, he would burn out his voice. he did it back then cuz his voice was still developing and VERY!!! flexible. now its settling into his more natural range, which is still huge

I met him once a few years back. He was here with the Gaither Homecoming Tour and I took my mom to it for her birthday. It was great! I bought all his videos then, and got to meet him afterwards, asked him to sign one of the vids, instead he signed my hand and told me to never wash it so itll become a "Mark" in history, lol...hes great...who says you ccant have great comedy without all the swearing and slander...Mark does it all...=~)
