I love this band so much and I will always love them but just for everyones information, live DVDs the majority of the time are not an accurate representation of a bands live band performance. SIngers will go into rooms or hallways with very similar acoustics to where they played and re-record alot of bad vocal parts to make themselves appear better live then they actually are. Despairs also uses alot of pre-recorded stuff in the background of their sets so keep that in mind.

Also, let's face it if diru kept to the visual kei style and sound, we'd probably complain it was becoming derivative. Kyo wanted a new sound for himself not his fans, and I fully embrace his evolving music, from missa/garden, to withering/vulgar, to marrowbone/glassskin (probably), his sound has always been changing for the BETTER. And in cases of live performances, Kyo has a variety of low high and deep vocals, and he's very beautiful live.

Even if despairs is better live, i'm still a diru fan. I have pretty muchhave the discographies for both artists and find I like the majority of Diru's old and new stuff compared to d'espairsray. Also, diru captivated me with songs like embryo, macabre, obscure,kodou, cage, even their new stuff, embodying a wide variation of emotions and feelings. Love, hate, sorrow, loneliness, desolation.. And something about Kyo live sends shivers down my spine that makes me melt.

For example, Vulgar was a perfect amalgam of experimental japanese metal. Withering to Death not much so, but still an interesting listen. And now, with their new Marrow of the Bone, Kyo screams inarticulately and every song reminds me of Korn's instrumental influence on them. Being veterans is one of the only things they have going for them when put under a scope of criticism.

i agree with TomokoChan..everytime i listen to d'esp. people, they play and sing exactly as their songs in CD.. usually,, other famous bands such as gazatte might look more bloody and cool, but actually, they are worse at playing/singing than this type of bands.. i dont know why gazatte is that famous;; i mean.. d'esp. and mucc are much better at playings.. oh.. whatever,, i love d'esp. rhythm..drum sounds so deep and exciting!! mucc and d'esp. are so awesome.. they should visit usa more often

Oh God, I just don't know what to say. o_o I think it's normal, when the lead singer sings a veeeery little bit worse than in the record, but this is amazing - Hizumi (that was his name, right?) sings everything just as it was at record, I may even say, that slightly better.
