The point here is that in Takarazuka, women also play the male roles. Means the fact that the actress who plays Death is female doesn't change anything about the fact that the role, the pictured character is male. Oh, and *this* is not actually Takarazuka, this is a concert performance of Shizuki Asato, a retired Takarazuka actress, who played Death in the 1998 Takarazuka Elisabeth production and Inoue Yoshio, who played Rudolf in the normal japanese Version of Elisabeth, which is casted normal.

Indee there must be a reason that he is a famous musical actor however the combination doesn't work because their voices are so very different they clash....not good! Hey, hey... really, I think it must have a reason that Yoshio is one of the most famous japanese musical actors. But 1) it's just mean to put an absolute outstanding contralto (even more because she never had opera voice training) next to a good japanese tenor (I'm no racist, I refer to the fact that japanese male voices often have a special kind of sound) and as a result of that 2) Zunko out-mans him. By far. Alltogether: Death pwns Rudolf, Zunko pwns Yoshio, world is perfect. :D

i know that there isn`t a english version of Elisabeth. but there are translations of the lyrics. but you have to be realistic because only one german Musical made it to play on the broadway, that was: "Tanz der Vampire" or "The Dance of the Vampire" and it was not the same play like in germany. the had other costumes other chacateres and a complet different storyline. i don't want to think about a english version, when the broadway done his own version again.

Because the Takarazuka Revue is an all-women performing theater group and are highly famous in Japan and they're getting rather famous in the US as well. I very much love Takarazuka as well as Haruno Sumire (who plays Der Todd in the flower troupe's version of Elisabeth - featured here). But, I like the German version as well.

You know, this is one of my favourite numbers. As much as I admire all the talented artists in Takarazuka, I just can't bring myself to like their version of "Elisabeth" -too many unnecessary changes. "Milk" was so much better with Lucheni alone. In the Takarazuka version, the story is about how the Death wins the heart of Elizabeth, if we put it in an extremely simple way. This clip is the consequent scene of the one in Sissi's room (able to find on youtube too). The desperate Death was trying to stir up an insurrection to throw Elizabeth into a tougher situation so that Elizabeth would "persue the death"... :)

Original version, with Uwe Kroger as Death, is more an androgynous Death (in my opinion)--or not quite androgynous, just more non-agressive, whereas Mate Kamaras, who is on the dvd and also toured Japan, is a sexy, agressive, bad boy Death (ooh baby ;-)

in this scene Death stops time right? maybe he wanted to apear in a little less scary form? also, I do not think that the origonal German verson has a "dead" death. Having watched all the Saigo no Dansu wa clips on youtube aswell, I will humbley state my personal oppinion. Osa-san has the charisma of Death that none of the others have. Even in the German versions their are actors who play Death dfferetly. But as i sad before, this is just a humble oppinion^_^

TCA shows usually have funny scenes: this is a parody of "Black Jack", a Takarazuka musical based on the manga (it was performed in the early 90s), and "Elisabeth", the Austrian musical which is one of Takarazuka's most popular shows.

If I explain a little, Kawakami Sada(from "Yoake no zyokyoku")comes to see Black Jack and says "I'm sick of taking care of my husband. I'd like to die if I have to do this forever!" Then BJ says(like a Death in "Elisabeth") "If so... why don't u die?" Sada surprises. BJ(Death)gives Pinoko(Lucheni)a knife to kill Sada(Elisabeth)and she did. BJ(Death)and Sada(Elisabeth)goes to heaven..? As it says on the title, TCA does the funny stuff every year~.(it used to be a TMP)
