Ariel US's website says their engines are still Honda K20's. To be honest, I'd rather have the supercharged Honda than the GM.
By: UKnick80. on 29 Oct 08, 20:53:30
i'm talking about the rover 1 which came out 1983/1984 launched 1.4-litre 16v. then made a 1.6 & 1.8 16v. the 1.8 16v k-series ROVER engine has been used in kit cars and some 4x4's even in open wheel sports cars (in the UK) through out the 80's an 90's (ie, Caterham and Lotus) also used in the first Atoms b4 they put a Honda engine in (yes also called k-series). I was talking about the rover cos we can get both engines in the UK, known to most brits as K-series (Rover) & Vtec (Honda)

the K-series is a 2.0 its a K20A
By: sniper1724. on 26 Oct 08, 16:49:54
how much for one?
By: UKnick80. on 24 Oct 08, 18:18:21
don't know what trim levels there are, but there isn't alot of anything in the atoms. Also the K-series engine is a 1.8 non-turbo rover engine, it's the base model in the uk and i've been told it's not great. lack of power.

supercharged ecotec vs supercharge k20a..
By: anthonyT01. on 20 Oct 08, 22:43:38
Is there a chance that they may offer different trim levels with the Honda K-Series engine in one of them and the GM motor in the other?
By: UKnick80. on 20 Oct 08, 20:26:26
the GM motor has a turbo, don't now how good it is tho.... i like the 2.0L honda v-tec with the supercharger.... 300hp hooked up to honda's 6 speed box
By: anthonyT01. on 20 Oct 08, 16:20:51
So this car's engine is turbo-charged and supercharged?
By: mikeb1444. on 17 Oct 08, 03:07:43
I'd need one with a bigger turbo, after the warranty(if there is one) expires.

Y the fuck does America always wanna make cars slower, GM engine wtf! y fuck with something thats already perfect k20a!
By: matyfigure09. on 26 Sep 08, 02:02:01
but man no doubt about it xD I work at GM and yes, GM engines in their majority suck big time... there are just a few exceptions...
By: Kdanc86. on 18 Sep 08, 14:12:44
The design was british therefore it was british ingenuity.
By: djlegacie. on 17 Sep 08, 06:13:22
i really think the Honda engine is way better then GM's Ecotec... I've work with both of thous engines and the Honda is a better built motor by far and faster to. when that V-Tec hits with supercharger screaming.. bye bye Ecotec

this video is wrong, its built in the UK and US but is only built in the US under liscence. it is completely a british car in every possible way.
By: 7tritain. on 10 Sep 08, 18:42:35
Dude, regardless of where the engineering came from, it still uses the same laws of physics and chemistry to bend your mind inside out =P

Why don't you take your civic to the track and we'll go heads up?
By: quuaa1. on 08 Sep 08, 04:42:46
Also, I'm quick to point out that the British version requires 110 octane race fuel, which would be cheaper to acquire a type of aviation fuel rather than use an assload of octane boosters. The GM ecotec engine just takes regular gasoline, much more practical.
