Compiz Fusion can do all that. I tried KDE 4 instead of Gnome, but ended up going back to Gnome. I don't like that KDE wants me to do everything with KMail, KWord, Konqueror etc. Sure, I can use Firefox, but the fonts got messed up. Plus, I had to write compiz --replace on every boot, since it was in conflict with KDekorator. Let people choose their apps, and focus on the desktop itself.

Konqueror won't get lost. It will be just a matter of seconds to configure it as the standard filemanager again in KDE4. Dolphin is aimed at the non-poweruser masses (like Gnome?) anyway: Qt4 is simply great!

yah from my experience i dont see the diff between mac and linux really, but the last tiem i try mac, i had to follow "the mac way" and on linux i followed the "windows" way, with a bit a tweak, and that's it, it's actually easier to go from window to linux than from window to mac imo.

There, you do it again. Calling people stupid, just like that is not only arrogant, but also very stupid. ;) It is not right to promote an OS that has the user first learn the "vocabulary" of the OS. The computer must know how the user works. Not vice versa. This is real world application. And, btw.: under the hood of this "grandma OS" runs UNIX and you can run Linux Programs through X in OSX. The UNIX core of OS X is even OPEN SOURCE. It's called Darwin. So, take a lesson.

kde4 is soo similar to vista... i mean kde3.5 is good. i really like it, and what it needs is some good cleaning up of code (at least that's what i read - about code) kde4.0 is full of unneeded stuff, changes that goes just like in vista from good to worse. but it's just my opinion so don't flame me. also i quess it my bad i installed it from repositories and some ppl say it not always work properly if not made with cmake etc...

Clearly you're an idiot. If you don't like the trick Gnome & KDE Compliz stuff then either turn it off or run XFCE or similar as you're desktop manager. The whole point of linux is that you have the choice; you're not even forced in to using a GUI at all if you don't want to. As for bad design, see Vista.

That is the big problem with Linux: Precious time and effort wasted in mindless toy stuff, that doesn't improve usability at all, but only makes thing worse be adding more and more stuff that is unneeded. The problem with Linux is that I've seen no developer - and no distribution - with any clue about the most basic design principles. Linux is unuasable for the end user. Linux needs design. Consistency, usability. Not guey windows, or rotatable windows. I hate what's being done to Linux. (!)

I already have Ubuntu running on parallels. But I mean... let's be serious... KDE 4 is not ready and has lots of stupid design failures. I preffer to use Linux than Windows, the problem with GNU/Linux is the software. As it's free nobody works hard to do decent applications. Rhythmbox, WTF? Amarok is the only decent application in Linux and Firefox... it's also pretty good.
