Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful man He is not a Buddha that feat is not necessary. I would place this man above the Lama. I have read one of his books and while he did not say anything I did not already know you could feel his warmth and love come through the page.

I want to ask ThichNhatHanh what did he do when VietCong murdered 100 thousand+ people in Hue City (Tet 1968) and the mass killer HCMinh and the communist army killed millions Vietnamese people during 20 year bloody civil war??? I feel sorry for Vietnam since the communist took over . It is a corrupted systems, looting, mass murder and darkness. HCM is in hell for at least 4000 years from now!

During the Viet Nam War, did he have the gut to tell North Vietnamese Communist Government to stop the violence, or just the American and South Vietnamese Government? Did Martin Luther King get the gut to tell all sides to stop the violence or just the American and South Vietnamese sides only?

Old Path White Cloud is a good read Gigastorm. Have you read "Zen Keys" by Thich? It gave me a very clear understanding of what Zazen is.

"Monks, this holy life is lived, not for the sake of deceiving people, not for the sake of inveigling people, not for the sake of the rewards of gain, offerings, & tribute, nor with the thought, 'Thus may people know me.' This holy life is lived for the sake of restraint & abandoning." (Itivuttaka)(Duk. I,8) (It. 28) (Itivuttaka)(Duk. I,8) (It. 28)

Monks can just get by by ignoring everything but with their awareness and compassion they are risking and sometimes taking their own lives to speak for the people.
By: nexasdf. on 21 Jan 08, 00:20:35
Thank you so much for the interview. It's easy to ignore the suffering of others. Monks are supposed to practice non-attachment to the social world but with so much injustice in this world they have to speak up for the people. Monks in Burma are the only group of people that are courageous enough to speak up.

My sentiment is same as Kuanyin123456. China is selling some of military arms to Burmese junta for below market price. China is also selling its "Military expertise" to Burma and claiming it is "non-lethal" to Burma. Left me speechless...
