A touching scene, he wanted to be a real boy so he could return home to 'Mommy,' whom would then love him in return. David was always capable of love, because he was imprinted, "bonded" with Monica and only Monica. Note Davids' face change when he's imprinted, then in this clip the change when he hears Monica utter, "I love you David." Pure Steven S... As I recall, in Aldiss' short story, the Teddy bear is devoted to David, when David goes to sleep, turns self off, so does Teddy.

The ending of this movie just kills me every time. When I first saw it in the theatre I could not control my audible, gasping sobs; the only other two movies to affect me like that were THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY and BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

beautiful beautiful movie. makes me cry every time. its truly an exceptional movie. its so perfect. what a long adventurous life this poor david had. and all he wanted was for his mother to tell him she loves him.

Saddest movie I have ever seen, in a good way - makes me really appreciate that I am real and have a mother. The ending makes me pretty sad, in a good way, but it also makes me sick, in a "good" way - hard to explain. The ending reminds me about sort of a "happy funeral" with endless traces of unquenchable sadness. Ironicly nothing sad has happened. His "mother" died of natural cause and he is nothing but a machine... but the storytelling of it makes you believe something else. This is art.

whenever i see this scene, it makes me think of all the things i take for granted. This movie is truly a masterpiece. There is so much beauty to this scene, it brings warmness to my heart every time. I'm usually a very mean and angry person, but when seeing such a peaceful scene, well it's hard to describe...

This movie caught my attention as i rode a bus on my way to our office.That was the only time i enjoyed being on a bus because of the movie itself.And also the first time i felt really devastated as i take off my feet on that bus.Thank god i found it here in youtube.This movie is really awesome.Mothers are really the nicest people on earth.They are the people who can give you the best love you'll wish to have forever...
