Blast Reynolds in "Terror at Moon Base Alpha" Posted by: AlonzoMosleyFBI
Video duration: 326 seconds This is my LEGO tribute to the old Flash Gordon serials. And for you "Space: 1999" fans, I had no idea there was a Moon Base Alpha on that show, having never watched it. It was a name I just made up that sounded good, so don't go looking for a Martin Landau cameo or anything. Enjoy! Terminator 4 Parody Posted by: AlonzoMosleyFBI
Video duration: 92 seconds Here's my mashup of the "Terminator" films with "Gone With The Wind". The process of making this only increased my admiration for the really good ones I've seen on YouTube (And as a side note, no, I don't long for a different outcome to the Civil War. This pairing of films just seemed perfect to me.) Related: gone, parody, teaser, terminator, the, trailer, wind, with Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

My family too fought on both sides, my greatgrandfather once told my father that the only thing in his life that he truly regreted was fighting on the side of the North. When he wnt back to visit family in the South after the war, he was ashamed of the way they were treated.

Many in the South believed strongly in States rights, many in the North believed in a strong Federal government mandating rights it see's fit. Being from a family that fought on both sides, I can see points on both sides. Today we have similar situations, I do not believe the Federal Government should interfere or mandate every aspect of ones life. Thats what my ancestors in the South fought for.

Very admirable.

It was also about keeping our country as one. A great many of the southerners would disagree that it was about slavery at all. Many of them simply fought for their homeland.

Please people...take heed. Do not judge a people by its government...and do not judge my fellow soldiers by our gov. or those extremely few fools at Abu G. Us USA soldiers are like these two...we love our Country, its people and its beauty. Everyone knows its not perfect...but do not HATE. Capture/kill those who just want to see life burn...! That is why we will win...they have no alternative.

The ONLY war of liberation? Tell that to the French people in Normandy who still remember WWII, or survivors of the Holocaust, or tell that to the people in South Korea who WOULD be under the communists if the U.S. and other UN Forces hadn't intervened almost sixty years ago. Also, freeing the slaves wasn't the ONLY issue at stake with the Civil War.

those 2 should've gotten oscars for this movie. they were great. jeff daniels is such a good actor. he can play ANY type of roll or character and play it well. he's not like jean claude van damme who is pretty much the same character in every movie he's in. daniels can do a wide range of rolls.

Soldiers don't make the law either. And I didn't make an argument. However, it's cute that you think it's okay to kill random soldiers whenever you get upset with the government.
By: titleist2069. on 28 Jul 08, 20:26:38
The cops enforce the law, not make the law. Your argument is a terrible analogy.
By: PubliusAfricanus. on 28 Jul 08, 04:33:25
By that reasoning, cops are at fault every time a street punk takes a shot at them.
By: infiniLor. on 27 Jul 08, 21:40:31
You all seem to be forgetting that this was the only war of liberation America has ever fought - to free the slaves. That was the only real issue at stake.
By: titleist2069. on 11 Jul 08, 23:51:25
Great insight. I do believe the South had a happy trigger and the North was a bit reckless about imposing such laws and taxes on the South. Dont get me wrong, the US would not be such a world superpower it is today had Lee's defensive war was a sucess. I still have a great respect for him as a General. It disturbs me that the federal government was not able to stop war from happening. They were a bit arrogant if you ask me.

The bottom line is that the south seceded to protect the institution of slavery from being abolished by a majority anti-slavery federal government. The north fought not to end slavery, at least not immediately, but to keep the union together. Both sides have questionable motives for going to war, but it's not a simple issue. There's no "one side is right, one side is wrong." It's a grey issue. And I don't think there's any way to blame one side for being entirely at fault. They both were.
By: leftyms. on 11 Jul 08, 20:49:00
It was also southern politicians themselves who said at the start of the war that the root of the cause was the issue of keeping slavery in the south alive. It was only after the war that President Davis and Vice President Stephens went back and said it was about states' rights, not slavery, which I consider to be more of a public relations move than anything.
By: leftyms. on 11 Jul 08, 20:43:42
I'm inclined to agree with you that the state government was looking out for it's way of life, which was threatened by the federal government. However, I think we can all agree that the practice of slavery was part of the way of life in the south, and was wrong. And yes, the north did profit somewhat from the practice of slavery in the south, but bear in mind that that did not stop the strong abolitionist movement in the north that sought to end slavery.
By: titleist2069. on 11 Jul 08, 20:18:54
Furthermore, the South was the primary supplier of raw materials to be used in Northern factories. They would ship raw materials and get back in return high priced items. The money circulation in the South was drained and the Northern states profited from a discriminatory practice.
By: titleist2069. on 11 Jul 08, 20:15:59
Im born and raised in the upstate and I live in Charleston now, and ive never been ashamed of this state. I believe it was looking out for its way of life against an oppressive government. The federal government cannot keep applying tariffs and restricting trade to only one region of the united states and expect them to go along. It was actually cheaper to buy foreign goods than to buy northern goods because of all the taxes. I believe the Union is at fault for discrimination against the South.
By: leftyms. on 11 Jul 08, 01:42:08
Also consider this: the Confederate Constitution barred the Confederate Congress from ever outlawing the practice of slavery. It only outlawed the importation of slaves from any other nation. It WAS one of the reasons the south seceded, despite what we may want to believe, and it is something that I, as a native of the first state to leave the union, am ashamed of. I just wish that at this point we could all get along and just be Americans, not "southerners," "northerners," etc.
By: leftyms. on 11 Jul 08, 01:35:25
That is true about Star of the West, but I can't see how a government trying to send supplies to its own fort can be considered causing "fault." But like I said, and this is coming from someone born and raised in SC, in case you've taken me for a northerner, the southerners fired the first shots, and therefore in my opinion, were the first to show aggression.
By: titleist2069. on 10 Jul 08, 19:59:51
It was Citadel Cadets who fired on The Star of the West. They fired because the Union ship did not halt it's resupply of Ft. Sumpter. They were denied entrance into the harbor, but entered anyway. Therefore, the Union is at fault.
By: leftyms. on 10 Jul 08, 16:37:51
It's amazing how angry people still get over a war that ended over 140 years ago. I do think that the southern POV and likening itself to the colonists fighting for independence against Britain should be considered. But here's where I see a difference: The British fired first on the colonists at Lexington. It was the south who fired first on Ft. Sumpter. So the idea that it was a war of "northern aggression" as I have heard it called is, in my opinion, ridiculous, because the south started it.
By: Rothgar84. on 09 Jul 08, 02:07:47
I'm always amused when Southern apologists use code phrases like states rights, economic or political reasons to explain the South's actions. What state right was the South wanting to protect? SLAVERY What economic issues was the South trying to protect by seceding? SLAVERY The majority of Presidents had been Southerners and the Senate was still half Slave states in 1860.
