Well, Hawaii isn't gaining independence anytime soon, especially since it holds great geopolitical/strategic importance for the USA. Without Hawaii and all its army bases, the US would have a harder time getting into E. Asia. I highly doubt those people on the beach want to give up their culture and bow down to what they see as colonialist institutions. do not confuse murder with death caused by bad policies. they're both criminal acts but in one case the death is the goal of the action, in the other one is a consequence- usually foreseeable- of a policy. at least 20 millions died for the great famine under Mao, but he didn't want them dead (that was not his goal) he just didn't give a shit. he saw the price of his policies and accepted it. most of the deaths in cambodia were not planned but a consequence of guiltily idiotic policies.
