People get it mixed up because arctic monkeys released a DVD called Scummy, which is based on the video for this song, but the song itself is called When THe Sun Goes Down, hence the chorus "They say it changes when the sun goes down"...

Thats as variable as music is, put it this way. Talking on stage is like playing the banjo on stage if you havent on the album. If you think your good at it and that it'll make the gig more fun. yeah, i agree with mosambikue, they can play a clean performance live, but they still haven't really gotten down stage presence and interacting with the audience properly. Give them time, and they'll get the hang of it. I love the Arctic MOnkeys anyway though :D

I wonder what Ian would have thought of New Order? I mean, while their music is good, a lot of it feels like a really danced-up copy of Joy Division. The lyrics try to be deep and emotional like JD, especially in earlier stuff, but really fall short.

AMAZING! i love alex... he seems so into it, but he seemed kinda sad... :( they all kinda did, though. For some reason, that song always made me melancholy. maybe cos of what its about... but still, AMAZING performance! seriously. 505 is a really god song, i didnt like it at first, though, but over the past few months Ive grown to love it! :D

Awesome! Imagine seeing this vid as I did, as a 15 yr old before you got everything by internet, YouTube, satellite tv and 24 hour music stations. It was like gold dust and is as fresh today as it was then. A lesson in simplicity by recording the song in one take at 'home' in their own recording studio and then releasing it as the video to the song. And check out Gill's make-up. The whole thing is 100% start-to-finish bona fide genius

I'd venture a *partially*-educated guess that the song could have something to do with Ian Curtis's suicide. The lyrics seem to hint that anyway ("Then I knew it from the start, This friend of mine would fall apart"). If you notice, they even put him in the door, watching them (hence their looks). Is that also Tony Wilson behind the glass? One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands.
