i was using the asian meaning on my first post. however, since you dream of the turtle, i would say to you to use the native american meaning of "overcoming" or to look deeper into a situation before judgment is made. not everything is as it appears to be, like our friend the turtle. :)! of course you will still have good luck and long life because you had turtle visit you! :)!

cont. example- most folks believe that the turtle if turned over cannot right itself up again, this is not so. the turtle has very strong muscles in the neck and can turn itself upright again, i.e. can "overcome" a difficult circumstance. it (the turtle) can also have the meaning of not to judge something on a first glance- look deeper, go inward, not everthing is as it appears to be.

well, lady- different tribes i believe call it by different names. i believe most call it a "fetish". it's usually made of stone. these are used for many different reasons and have many different meanings ( it depends on that particular tribes world view and how they relate to nature). most would view the turtle as a symbol that will "overcome" or manage a difficult circumstance. cont. next post

This is a really beautiful poem! It so detailed and expressive. It makes it hard to understand the plot though. The ending really packs a punch! "She really has a lovely face..." Hah! I remember visiting my grandparents when they lived in an Airstream trailer behind the hotel as did several folks. They used the hotel bathroom as part of their rent. They raised their two teenage daughters there. Amazing! Very cramped, but I only remember my sweet grandparents.

We have been there... living in the country with young children. No heat, no hot water sometimes and inventive on groceries. But we got through and certainly not as poor as a lot of folks. I learned from my grandparents how to get through with good cheer. They were experts at it.

Living in oil country, we have our busts and booms. We try to be sensible when we do have money but we all seem to have just as much fun when we don't have it. It can be grinding, I realize when it goes on for too long and affects one's health. The people here are known for their *humility* . We've been through it.. that's for sure.
