You're probably thinking of the Black Spider-man suit-- after he's infected with Venom's symbiote the player is able to freely switch between that and regular Spidey suit. Unless there's some sort of unlock or code, I doubt you'll be able to play as anybody but Spider-man; in fact, I believe that the devs specifically stated that you can only play as Spider-man in an interview.

well idk but do u play ultimate spider man i did finished it spider man fights venom many times and in the end he fights wat i call venom spider man the symbiote reacts with spider man because he and venom were captured for tests and when venom and i do use the term loosly "safes"spider man by feeding on the outter symbiote he then can control venom and trys to kill its uh creator well no but holder who "infected"him but spider man stops him you can then play as venom in free roam

I AM THE CURE! I AM ANTI-VENOM!!!" so that's pretty much it!:)
