Video duration: 575 seconds And the race is on! In the rain even! lol We thought it got rained out but they waited til it stopped with the lightning and thunder and the boats entered the water. Thank God for umbrellas because after they paraded themselves around the river showing off their boats, they lined up for the race and it started pouring down rain again.. but they didn't stop for it. yea the man in the overals is sure gettin it. the lady in white is good, the taps is kinda distracting but, she is sure good too. I'm in Louisiana & unfortunately, we don't see true mtn. dancin' like this. what we see here is WAY too modern.

Tha man I was focusing on wasn't wearing taps on his shoes. It was the woman in the white top and jeans with the noisy things on. Many that come to Pikeville Hillbilly Days to dance do wear taps tho. So maybe it's a territorial thing. I don't live there.. just go for the fun if I have the gas money to make the trip. Don't get so technical.. it's all in fun!

real cloggers do not "tap" dance though. In WV where the real hillbillies are, they just clog, and the hillbillynshoes they wear make a clogging noise when they dance. Actually, it sounds a lot better than the sharp tapping noise. I clog, and it is a lot of fun. Go to the Laretta Lynn Spring festival in Lanvier, KY ( near Paintsville, KY) and you will see real clogging.
